Title I, Part A, of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) requires that Title 1 schools conduct outreach to all parents and family members and implement programs, activities, and procedures for the involvement of parents and family members. Title 1 schools must develop a School-Level Parent and Family Engagement Policy as outlined in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Section 1116(a). ESSA is the reauthorization of ESEA. The policy establishes school-level expectations and objectives for meaningful parent and family involvement. The District must also develop and establish a District-level Parent and Family Engagement Policy as outlined in ESSA. The District and Title 1 schools have developed these plans and submit them for Board approval. Item will return to the June 18, 2024 Board Meeting for Board action. |
