The San Joaquin Air District grant is a stackable funding opportunity that would provide minimum monetary support. While the final cost to our department is yet to be determined, this grant will enable the district to replace up to twenty (20) of our old buses with new electric buses. As part of the grant’s stipulations, for each new electric bus we receive, we will be required to retire and decommission one of our existing buses. |

Currently, the final cost impact to our department remains undetermined, as the San Joaquin Air District grant is a stackable funding opportunity. However, based on similar grants, we anticipate a minimum expenditure of 10% per bus, should we be approved. It is important to note that the standard cost for each electric bus is approximately $510,000. These funds would come out of our general transportation funds for school bus replacement budget. |
