Summary: The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing requires Board of Education approval to assign certificated personnel according to EC 44256 (b), EC 44258.2, EC 44263, and T5 80020.4. EC 44256 (b) states Multiple Subject and Standard Elementary credential holders may accept an assignment in any departmentalized class below Grade 9 if the teacher has twelve (12) overall or six (6) upper division semester units of coursework in the subject to be taught. EC 44258.2 states Single Subject and Standard Secondary credential holders may accept assignments in any departmentalized class for Grades 5-8 if they have completed six (6) upper division or twelve (12) overall semester units of college coursework in the subject to be taught. EC 44263 states credential holders may be assigned to teach any single subject in which they completed nine (9) upper division or eighteen (18) overall semester units of coursework. T5 80020.4 states any teaching credential holder based on BA, professional preparation and student teaching may serve as a staff developer in grades 12 and below. Board approval and teacher's consent are required. Attached is a list showing the names of the employees and the subject areas assigned for 2019-20.
